Saône Island is located in the extreme southeast of the Dominican Republic. It is part of the Parque Nacional del Este and is known for its mangroves, coral reefs and palm-fringed beaches, such as La Palmilla. The shallow waters of the island are home to starfish. Mano Juan is a quiet fishing village near the Laguna de los Flamencos, with colorful shacks and a turtle sanctuary. To the west is the Cueva de Cotubanamá, with pre-Columbian rock art.

Catalina Island, also called Ikiita Island, is an island that is located in the Caribbean Sea just a few kilometers southeast of La Española Island in the south of the province of La Romana that is part of the Dominican Republic. From La Romana it takes half an hour to get to Isla Catalina. 

 The island was named after the navigator Christopher Columbus on his trip through the area en May de 1494. It is a popular tourist destination and frequented by some Caribbean cruise ships.

Palmilla is part of the Cotubanamá National Park and you can visit it on any excursion to Saona Island. Snorkel, swim and admire the starfish resting on the bottom. To get here you can rent boats in Bayahibe or La Romana, you can also go by catamaran or speedboat.
