Land of Water Sources.
The name of the municipality is composed of the words Jaraba Y Coa, which is supposed to carry the approximate meaning of Land of Water Sources.
There is a saying tha t"God is everywhere..., but he sleeps in Jarabacoa'',because in this city you can enjoy the long-awaited peace and tranquility in the most beautiful nature. There are also those who say that there is no most romantic place, where by one can get lost in un horseback riding through the highest mountains of the Antilles.
The population is located 2 hours and a half from Santo Domingo at average speed, in a route of 130 km along the Duarte Highway, and 21 km along the Federico Basilis highway.
Located in the very center of the central mountain range, Jarabacoa rises on a plateau of 525 masl.
The temperatures present little variation, but in general between March and November the early mornings and mornings are pleasant, the afternoons are hot and the nights are mild; while between December and February the early mornings and mornings are cool or slightly cold, the afternoons are mild and the nights pleasant.
